From Messy Accounts to Professional and Confident

A client approached Beyond Accounts overwhelmed by messy accounts and financial disorganisation. Suppliers were often overpaid because invoices were paid twice — once on receipt and again when the statement arrived. Sales were double-entered, inflating income figures, and some supplier names were entered slightly differently in Xero, creating duplicate contacts and resulting in bills being paid twice.

To make matters worse, GST on imports was not being claimed correctly, meaning the client was paying more tax than necessary. Overdue invoices were not being followed up, which tightened cashflow and gave the impression to both customers and suppliers that the business was disorganised.

We rolled up our sleeves and got to work. Our team reconciled supplier accounts and corrected overpayments, fixed duplicate sales entries to bring income back to accurate levels, and cleaned up the contact list by merging duplicates so bills were coded and paid correctly. Import transactions were recoded to ensure GST was claimed properly, and we took over debtor management — sending monthly statements and following up overdue invoices.

The transformation was swift. Within weeks, the client had a clear picture of their true financial position. Substantial amounts in overpayments and missed GST were recovered, sales figures were corrected, and supplier ledgers became tidy and accurate. Customers began paying faster thanks to regular statements, and both customers and suppliers came to see the business as professional and reliable. Most importantly, the owners finally had confidence in their numbers and could focus on growth, knowing their accounts were accurate, compliant, and presented in a way that reflected the professionalism of their brand.
